Practice Placement Unit (PPU)

PPU is a professional student education service team whose role is to ensure that students are allocated the appropriate practice placements and to record all their practice experiences on the student placement information database.

PPU is a vital link between students and the placement areas within the healthcare community and work in partnership with University tutors and healthcare professionals working across Leeds.

PPU works in close collaboration with placement providers in order to best identify the placement areas that can offer the maximum potential for students to achieve all relevant learning outcomes and receive the support necessary to develop as experienced healthcare professionals.

All placements are allocated in accordance with individual student need and practical issues, such as where individual students live and student mobility are also taken into account.

All student placement areas are audited annually to ensure that all experiences they provide meet the requirements of the programmes that both the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University offer and that the placement areas offer a safe and effective learning environment.

It is the remit of the PPU to meet all the uniform requirements of the University of Leeds students accessing the clinical areas.

Whilst juggling the demands of a large student base (the University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett University) PPU endeavours to be both flexible and understanding in their approach to students. At the same time PPU actively encourages students to call or come along and talk to them whenever they feel it is necessary to do so.
